Solutions 2009 - (Page 12) 12 Energy Management Certificate I This course is the first in a series that offers plant engineers, maintenance engineers, and other designated employees the ability to earn knowledgebased certificates in the measurement and control of energy in their facilities. By successfully completing this series of management courses, plant personnel should be able to successfully audit their facility and identify lowhanging fruit for energy savings. The class will strengthen the participants’ knowledge about the systems they operate, and how to control or reduce energy for each process in their plant. CIS-EN-EMC-IP-000109-1 Energy Management Certificate II This course is the second in a series that offers plant engineers, maintenance engineers, and other designated employees the ability to earn knowledgebased certificates for learning how to control energy in their facilities. This class will go into depth about energy users. It will prepare participants to conduct audits and determine the economic feasibility of implementing energy improvement initiatives. Funding sources for implementing measures without having to secure capital from the company also are discussed. Federal tax credits for retrofitting existing systems ($.90/square foot of floor space) and how to document retrofits will be explained. Verification forms for the Internal Revenue Service will be provided. Completion of the Energy Management Certificate I course is required.
