Solutions 2009 - (Page 3) Dear Center for Industrial Services Customer: These are truly interesting times for manufacturing in Tennessee, in America and in the world. While we are seeing many traditional manufacturing opportunities disappear to offshore locations, we are, at the same time seeing new manufacturing opportunities emerge here at home. For both the short and long terms, the ebb and flow of manufacturing is likely to continue to be an iterative process, dependent on many factors such as currency exchange rates and the vitality of local markets. As manufacturing opportunities emerge or re-appear in this country, it is almost certain that the methods and processes used in production as well as the skill sets required of workers will be far different from those lost to overseas or offshore competitors in the recent past. The purpose of this SOLUTIONS catalog is to provide you a sampling of the types of training and consulting assistance the University of Tennessee Center for Industrial Services can provide to your company. The center is equipped to provide both general training and assistance, and also company specific assistance — depending on your needs. In addition to our highly skilled and trained staff we have access to the academic resources of the University of Tennessee system, Tennessee Board of Regents institutions as well as many other proven professionals across the state. The UT Center for Industrial Services is here to help you become even more successful in your business. This help can range from helping to solve a single, narrow scope problem to helping transform an entire enterprise, including building new capacity within existing labor, plant and equipment, and helping to define and design new products that make use of that new-found capacity. In short, we want to help good companies become great companies! If I or any of my staff can assist you, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you for the important contribution that you make to our state and to our nation’s economies by being globally competitive while offering fulfilling and well-paid jobs for so many Tennesseans.
