Solutions 2009 - (Page 47) 47 LEAN MANUFACTURING Which course should I take? Lean Manufacturing Overview is an introduction to Lean concepts and their application in any process. Consider it a starting point if: • Lean is a new concept to your industry. • you have just a few employees who need to get up to speed with the rest of your staff. Lean certificate Series provides greater detail on Lean tools and prepares students for leading a Lean initiative. Consider it if you: • are leading a Lean implementation. • are part of the plant’s Lean team. • are the new Lean champion. • want to be a Lean champion. • want to know what your Lean champion is doing. Kaizen Facilitator Training helps develop skills necessary to run successful events. Consider it if you: • are part of the plant’s continuous improvement team. • are the new Kaizen facilitator. • want to be a Kaizen facilitator. Everywhere you look, opportunities exist to improve throughput, eliminate unwanted steps, reduce inventory, speed delivery, improve cash flow and become more productive. The UT Center for Industrial Services (CIS) finds these opportunities and exploits them. To facilitate faster implementation and enhance return on investment, CIS solutions combine classroom and in-plant activities to meet specific needs. Training Within Industry helps develop the skill sets needed for floor managers and associates to effectively work within a manufacturing environment. Consider it if: • you are having process variation or product quality problems associated with methods or people. • you are trying to standardize process operations to make them more consistent. • employee turnover is high in jobs and you need quick, easy solutions to new employee training. Total Productive Maintenance helps develop the skill sets needed for floor managers and associates to effectively maintain manufacturing equipment at peak operating effectiveness. Consider it if: • you are having process product delivery problems associated with equipment downtime. • you want to maintain your equipment at a higher level of readiness and availability. • you’re tired of the additional cost associated with unplanned equipment repairs. Consider an in-plant course to help educate your entire workforce during the launch of your Lean initiative. Center for IndustrIal servICes (888) 763-743 • W W W. C I S . T E N N E S S E E .
