Sequel - Fall 2007 - (Page 5) LDS INSTITUTE DIRECTOR JOINS SEDERBURG ADMINISTRATION President William A. Sederburg announced recently that Jack R. Christianson, former director of the Orem LDS Institute of Religion, will serve as new executive director of Communities of Engaged Learning at UVSC. The newly created initiative is designed to increase collaboration between UVSC and the communities it serves by creating opportunities for volunteer service, internships and other hands-on, applied learning opportunities that join the institution with its community partners. NEW LEADERSHIP FOR UVSC TRUSTEES AND STATE BOARD OF REGENTS The School of Continuing Education at UVSC Janette Hales Beckham has been appointed chair of the UVSC Board of Trustees, the Institution’s governing body, appointed by Utah’s Governor and approved by the State Senate. Previously, Beckham served as general Young Women’s president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served at BYU as a trustee before joining the UVSC Board of Trustees as vice chairwoman in 2005. New to the Utah State Board of Regents, the governing body of higher education for Utah, is former UVSC Trustee Chairman Jack Zenger. Appointed by Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman, Jr., Zenger’s term with the Regents extends until June 30, 2011. Zenger was a UVSC Trustee from 1997-2005.
