editor’s desk his edition of Sequel Magazine has affectionately been dubbed the “then and now” issue by our staff. And it’s true this issue is a commemorative one, looking back at our rich history, and now our future as Utah Valley University. As we prepare to make the transition to UVU July 1, there is an excitement that can literally be felt across campus, as well as a sense of reminiscence as we say good-bye to UVSC. Sequel Magazine is also under a transition of sorts. Melynda Burt, Sequel’s editor for more than 10 years, left the College to pursue other opportunities. Under her direction, Sequel Magazine morphed from a community college newsletter to a full-fledged alumni magazine, recognized throughout the state as a quality publication. I thank her for her dedication, and am grateful to be following in her footsteps. After working on the magazine for more than five years, I am dedicated to continuing the tradition of excellence the publication has provided. In addition to a new editor, Sequel Magazine will receive a new name this fall: UVU Magazine. The name change not only reflects who we will become, but symbolizes a significant change in the institution’s history. Recently, I was able to sit down with President William A. Sederburg to discuss this monumental change. His strategic planning and continued vision for the institution is something I respect and admire, and I’m confident you’ll feel the same after reading “A Storybook Tale” on page 22. As July 1 approaches. I hope you will join the institution in commemorating this moment, whether participating in UVUphoria! events, touring our new library or ordering a reissued UVU diploma, this change is as much a part of your history as alumni as it is ours.
