Hair in particular takes a beating, since it’s exposed to damaging UV rays, pollutants and extremes of temperature and humidity yearround. All of these environmental challenges literally stress the physical surface of the hair shaft. Just as a piece of metal will oxidize and show signs of “metal fatigue” when left exposed to the elements, hair begins to lose its integral strength as a result of this exposure.
