CHI - Spring 2009 - (Page 8) LETTER FROM FAROUK As AN AMERICAN CITIzEN BY ChOICE, I feel privileged to travel carrying my American passport and proud knowing it is respected worldwide. But with privileges come responsibilities. At least one of them is being a good, loyal American citizen. America is the land of opportunity, the country that has allowed me to live and enjoy the “American Dream.” During the Christmas season of 2007, China flooded American markets with toys made with poisonous lead. These toys were hazardous to human life, particularly for the children these products were targeted to. I wondered, “How could this happen and be allowed by the United States government?” I could not unFarouk shami, founder of Farouk systems derstand or accept what was happening. I felt a responsibility to do my part as a fortunate American citizen. America exported freedom and democracy to most parts of the globe, but lately we have also exported American jobs to Asia, China and South Korea. We exported our dollars to the Middle East. The result is a recession hurting every American citizen. Now it’s time to bring back jobs to the USA. With great honor, Farouk Systems, Inc. is doing just that—creating at least 1,000 jobs in Houston, Texas, by shifting the manufacturing of all CHI goods, including liquids and tools. As an American citizen and an American manufacturer, I believe it’s important to live up to my responsibilities as much as I enjoy the privileges. Now it is the responsibility of all Americans to buy goods made in the USA. “Made in America” means more jobs, a better economy, better quality and advanced American technology. At Farouk Systems, CHI has developed the most advanced American technology with NASA technology. It is monitored and quality-controlled by the same NASA scientist who controlled quality on the space shuttles. We are proud to be American citizens and proud to be the first professional appliance company that can say we are “Made in the USA” by Americans.
