CHI Spring 2008 - (Page 58) beauty secrets How Long-Ago Traditions and Ingredients Yield Modern Results By Nadim A. Shaath, Ph.D. President, Alpha Research & Development, Ltd., New York ON BEHALF OF FAROUK SYSTEMS, I have traveled around the world in search of authentic, natural ingredients to incorporate into modern beauty products. Together with the award-winning Texan photographer, Thomas Hartwell, I have visited remote locations like the oasis of Siwa in the desert on the Libyan border. I also traveled through the cradle of civilization in Egypt, Jordan, Palestine and Israel. Based on my research, I predicted that by spanning the globe and delving into our collective past, we would be able to rediscover the forgotten plants and talents that ancient civilizations drew upon in their healing practices. This hunch paid off. Following trade routes and outbursts of culture, we found an abundance of intriguing ingredients for modern use. 58 Volume IV, Issue 14
