CHI - Summer 2008 - (Page 10) LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT I’M WRITING THIS the day after the Academy Awards, which were held in Hollywood. Farouk Systems was on hand for this dazzling event, supplying the products and tools for many of the stars who appeared on the broadcast that was seen by an audience of 30 million worldwide. We were delighted to discover that we had many “ambassadors” for our products at that event. Celebrity hair stylist Andy LeCompte, for example, whose clients include Madonna, Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Kate Hudson, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jennifer Connolly, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ellen Pompeo, Courtney Cox and Fergie—revealed Sonja Silva Glennis Grace Shauky Gulamani, President of Farouk Systems Group that he uses the CHI® Ceramic Iron to create many of the red carpet styles for his high-profile clients. Other guests, including singer Natalie Cole, and Oscarnominees Ruby Dee, featured in American Gangster and Saoirse Ronan, the young star of Atonement, expressed their loyalty to our products. CHI® “ambassadors” are singing our praises in many other countries as well. In Europe, actress Sonja Silva, singer Glennis Grace, personality Valerie Zwikker and fashion stylist Rossana Lima represent our brand exclusively, working with the artists of TrendyHair Company, our distributor in the Netherlands. Top European hair designer Hedwich Vigelandzoon keeps Farouk products in his kit Valerie Zwikker Rossana Lima when styling hair for magazines and for fashion shows for the likes of Valentino, Viktor & Rolf and Prada. (For a look at Hedwich’s incredible talent, turn to page 21.) Recently we have been welcomed into another part of the world. In the Middle East, our founder, Farouk Shami, has opened warehouse facilities to better serve our customers in that area. And our creative teams have been visiting countries like Egypt and Jordan to share ideas with and provide education to local stylists. We also have the honor of profiling several Farouk salon customers in Amman, Jordan, this month on page 22. I found it interesting that at the Academy Awards this year, the four winning performers hailed from countries outside of the U.S.—England (Tilda Swinton and Daniel-Day Lewis,) France (Marion Cotillard) and Spain (Javier Bardem.) Truly, professionals from every country enhance the quality of the films we see, and we believe, in the same way, stylists from around the world contribute to the art of hair styling. Here at Farouk Systems, we look forward to providing products and tools to stylists everywhere, and to lively creative exchanges with our colleagues around the world.
