That’s because in December, the Bloomington, Indiana beauty supply store owner took delivery of a brand new CHI® red Ford Mustang for his top sales performance. “He was like a kid in a toy store,” reveals Farouk District Sales Manager Jill Lewis, “and very proud!” ABC TV PROFILES The “Billion Dollar Hairdresser” The segment opens with Farouk Systems Founder Farouk Shami roaring into the frame in his CHI®-red Lamborghini and with that, viewers of Houston’s ABC 13 News began an intimate look at the industry’s “billiondollar hairdresser.” In an interview that included a tour of one of the company’s vast warehouses, Shami revealed how he came to this country from his native Palestine to study education, but instead, became enamored with hairdressing. “I enjoyed the art of doing hair,” he told the reporter, “and I enjoyed the people.” From there, he went on to create Farouk Systems, best-known for revolutionary products like silk therapy, ammonia-free hair color and the CHI® iron—the first ceramic and infrared styling appliance. A U.S. citizen for 43 years, Shami owns homes in Houston, Jordan and Jerusalem, and describes his adopted nation as “a country with no limits.” Shami was taped in his signature red cowboy boots and a red CHI® T-shirt, explaining, “Red gives off energy.” In recent months, he has also been profiled on CBS’ Over the Top and Great Day Houston. The CHI® soccer team, comprising staff members from a number of Farouk Systems locations, is going strong! Bulk order supervisor Oliver Cortez, who serves as the team coordinator and manager, notes, “It’s a great honor for us to represent such a good brand and to be part of Farouk Systems.” One of the team’s most gratifying wins, adds Office Manager Stephanie Goldstrom, was the contest against Rayados de Monterrey, in which Team Farouk emerged victorious with a final score of 5 to 1.
