CHI - Winter 2007 - (Page 47) COUTURE COIFFURE HIGH FASHION HAIR STRIKE A POSE! This new collection of hair styles—from Woody Michleb, artistic director for Farouk Systems Group, and the Farouk Systems Group Artistic Board of Directors—offers up a series of stunning, height-of-fashion styles. The collection, aptly named “Ode to Couture,” sources the crème de la mode for inspiration. According to Michleb, the collection was informed by the four fashion basics: design, fabric, form and function. “We wanted the focus to be the body,” Michleb explains, “just as it is in couture design. The object was to create flattering silhouettes that enhance the features and mirror the individual style of each client.” Another key element in the collection? A rule-busting approach to the notion that with dark winter weather comes dark winter hair. “All of the models in this collection began blonde,” says Michleb. “Then we layered their color with a variety of different hues, using great, shiny color formulas like the new Sunglitz Lighteners and CHI® Ionic Permanent Shine Color.” Along with the individuality of haute couture, “in hair, suitability is more important than the say-so fashion,” notes Michleb. “Even if the trend is ‘mahogany hair’ or ‘beach blonde’ or short bobs, if it doesn’t suit the client, it won’t work. That’s what we teach all of the stylists that we train worldwide and that’s how Farouk Systems Group professionals approach every person in their salons.” > Volume IV, Issue 13 47
