CHI - Winter 2007 - (Page 56) be a bombshell 3. do the bump Thanks to influences from the likes of singer Amy Winehouse, red carpet appearances by actresses Scarlett Johansson and Eva Mendes, and a host of high-topped runway models, the beehive is back. The difference between today’s bump and the mid-century model is in the attitude. It’s not-so-stiff and a bit more playful than the Aqua Net version. To become the queen of your own ’hive, begin by dividing your hair into three-inch-wide sections, starting at the crown of your head. Use a rattail comb to tease right at the root, up to about two inches away from your scalp. Lightly spray each section with a texture-enhancing, light-hold formula, such as CHI® Volume Booster Liquid Bodifying Glaze. Then drape the section over the teased portion, lightly brushing it down from the top to balance the shape and eliminate frizz. If your hair is wavy or curly, skip the brush-down and let your texture show. Another idea: Once you’ve created the bump, pin it into a loose, sexy ponytail or French twist (think Brigitte Bardot.) 56 Volume IV, Issue 13
