CHI - Winter 2007 - (Page 58) be a bombshell 5. roll ’em5. ROLL A quick roller set is the ideal way to produce the right amount of glamorous polish. Here’s how to create a full, sexy look on long, layered hair: ■ Prep clean, damp hair with a setting lotion like BioSilk® Glazing Gel. ■ Divide your hair into three sections—top, middle and bottom. ■ Using large, Velcro rollers, wind large panels of hair downward, all around the top section. Set this section slightly off of the scalp or “off-base”—this will produce less fullness on top. ■ In the middle and bottom sections, roll the hair upward. (Tip: Be sure each section of hair is no wider than the roller.) ■ Dry hair thoroughly with a blow dryer or hood dryer and remove rollers. ■ Let the hair cool, brush gently and mist with hair spray. 6. lined up5. ROLL Today’s edgy style leaders, like Lily Allen and Gwen Stefani, have inspired many of us to revisit our liquid eyeliner. Easier said than done—creating a perfect line takes practice. Here are some tips: ■ Check the liner for clumps. ■ Choose an extremely fine, pointed brush and wipe off all excess product. ■ For a steady hand, rest your elbow on a hard surface and rest your wrist on your face. ■ Tilt your head back slightly and half-close your eyes. ■ With the index finger of your opposite hand, gently pull your eyelid sideways and upward. ■ Draw the line just along your upper lashes with a single, smooth stroke. ■ Let it dry for a few seconds before opening your eyes. If you simply can’t walk the line, try a pencil instead of a liquid. Sharpen the point, dot the color along your lash line and then connect the dots. 58 Volume IV, Issue 13
