CHI - Winter 2007 - (Page 62) FAROUK BEHIND THE SCENES A WORLD OF BEAUTY THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMEN IN THE WORLD gathered in Mexico City for the annual Miss Universe pageant and, once again, Farouk Systems Group volunteered to serve as the official hair care sponsor for the event. In addition to supplying the products and tools that the global beauties needed to make their strands memorable, the company sent a team of stylists, led by President Shauky Gulamani, to prep the girls for the pageant and for their pre-pageant appearances. The Farouk stylists also did the hair honors for the evening’s judges, which included Riyo Mori is crowned NBC’s Heroes James Kyson Lee, Deal or No Deal briefcase model Lindsay Clubine, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, rocker Dave Navarro, Olympic figure skating champion Michelle Kwan, fashion designer Marc Bouwer, Project Runway judge and ELLE magazine fashion director Nina Garcia, and former Miss Universes Dayanara Torres and Christiane Martel. As a special surprise, Farouk Founder and Chairman Farouk Shami, himself a licensed cosmetologist, showed up with the company’s diamond-encrusted Million Dollar CHI® Iron to help put finishing touches on many of the ladies. The iron worked its magic, especially for Japan’s Riyo Mori who was crowned Miss Universe at the conclusion of the evening.
