If there’s a downside to decorating via collection, it’s the danger of off-the-shelf looks and oversimplified schemes, like the type that results when a room is decorated with fabrics that are too matched. Indeed, many consumers use fabric collections like decorating recipes, with the grouping of grand floral, coordinating plaid and patterned companion serving as a dead giveaway. While interiors always will benefit from harmonious patterns and colors, the path to a sophisticated, pulled-together look is less obvious today, according to Stacy Senior Allan, Thibaut’s Marketing Director. To that end, Thibaut has introduced a woven program that enables designers and end users to achieve coordination through the use of varying weave techniques—a matelassé, polished damask, linen and chenille—in the same color palette. An adjunct to the company’s existing wallpaper and print fabrics, the woven program aims to make the designer’s job easier: harmonious blending, not cookiecutter coordination. “Professional interior designers are always looking for ways to make their jobs easier,” Allan said. “That doesn’t mean they want to take shortcuts. They just don’t want to have to spend too much time searching for things. We strive to understand the way designers use pattern and decorate, so we can design collections that allow them still to be flexible." The simple elegance of classic chinoisserie is given a modern twist with Thibaut’s Tea House Collection, which showcases the company’s new woven fabric program. Tea House patterns are inspired by Chinese art, architecture, textiles, flora and village life, and are brought to life on a variety of textural grounds. 16 HOME fashion forecast
