Sunshine Show THE EVENT: Premiere Orlando 2007, held June 10 and 11, for 45,000 salon pros, with 2,500 booth and 740 exhibitors. THE VENUE: The Orange County Convention Center in Vidal Sassoon appeared at Premiere to launch “Hairdressers Unlocking Hope,” an industry effort to rebuild New Orleans house by house. Orlando, where exhibits and stages took over more than 250,000 square feet. THE DETAILS: Beyond the gigantic trade floor were educational theaters and seminar rooms for hair, skin and nails education, as well as competitions. And the talent. . . Dwight Miller, Richard Thompson, Anthony Mascolo, Robert Cromeans, Martin Parsons, Sandra Yu, Angus Mitchell, Nick Arrojo, Ken Paves, Sam Villa, James Morrison, Nicholas French and many others. THE BUZZ: This is a big-time show. “I used to go to New York,” said Randy, who flew in from his Arizona salon. “But why bother? Vidal Sassoon and Mary Rector-Gable unveiled “Hairdressers Unlocking Hope,” an industry-wide effort to donate time, energy and money to Habitat for Humanity to rebuild New Orleans.
