Renew - May/June 2008 - (Page 6) editor’s letter it’s never too early As we approached this month’s issue with the theme of anti-aging, it was topic that is starting to hit a little closer to home. I feel slightly foolish to complain about the start of crow’s feet, or the occasional dry, papery feel of the skin around my eyes. Until now, getting older never really crossed my mind. Now that I’m starting to see the dewy glow wear off, I realize that like everyone else, I will age! And I certainly wouldn’t mind having my understanding esthetician suggest an appropriate eye cream. While I won’t be doing Botox any time soon, it would be nice to do a little preventative maintenance. How many of your clients are in the same place I am? You may be missing out on them by focusing on the baby boomers, who seem like the obvious clientele. This month’s In the Room (on page 50) focuses on the Resurgence Renewal Facial, a multi-purpose, customized treatment that is not only good for anti-aging, but also for acne—perfect those dealing with adult acne. I’ve also noticed that aging is definitely not limited to the face—different people will have problems with various parts of the body. In this issue, on page 40, you’ll find protocols and information on six anti-aging treatments that are not for the face. From the hands and the neck to eyelashes and the scalp, these will help you meet any clients’ anti-aging needs. Another client need that is being addressed more often in the spa today is pregnancy. By offering special services designed just for pregnant clients, you’ll not only keep the guests you have, you might even attract new ones into your business. On page 26, you’ll find “Baby Boom,” which discusses the how, what and why to add these services to your menu. Finally, I just want to draw your attention to a great storytelling opportunity.
