She currently writes feature stories for SALON TODAY, covering topics like customer service, retail, branding, technology, decor and more. THE JUDGING PROCESS Salons of the Year judging took place in three phases. First, SALON TODAY editors and designers reviewed each of the entries, including essays and photography. Next, a panel of editors and art directors evaluated each entry in further detail and narrowed it down to 20 salons. Finally, the panel of judges viewed seven to 10 photographs of each salon and scored them in five different decor categories. Judges’ scores were combined and the salon with the highest score was named as grand-prize winner—and landed our cover. First, second, third and fourth runners up were ranked according to scores. The remaining salons—Salons of Distinction—are listed alphabetically. www.salontoday.com June 2008 | 23 http://FirstChair.com http://www.salontoday.com
