[EDITOR’S NOTE] An Industry Milestone SALON TODAY celebrates 25 years of helping salon owners achieve growth and accomplish goals. A A friend of mine has been a successful small business owner for about six years now. Sometimes I feel envious of her—being your own boss deﬁnitely has its perks. Other days, I am thankful to be employed by someone else—owning your own business also has its pitfalls. I once asked her if she would choose the same career again. She told me, “If I had known how hard it was going to be, I probably wouldn’t have done it. But I didn’t know, so I just went for it.” Peer to Peer Many salon and spa owners share in this revelation. Often, being a small-business owner is a lonely endeavor. For the past 25 years, SALON TODAY has helped change that by building a community of owners who are willing to share. Whether they are revealing their numbers in the annual SALON TODAY 200, showing off brand-new decor in the Salons of the Year issue, or telling us a story about a walkout, front desk management system or retail competition, it’s this willingness to share that has made SALON TODAY what it is today. I feel honored to have been a part of SALON TODAY these past four years and it is with some sadness that I am saying goodbye this month. I have accepted the position as editor-in-chief of SALON TODAY’s sister publication, MODERN SALON. But I am leaving you in very qualiﬁed hands. SALON TODAY’s new editor, Molly Noonan started her career in the beauty industry, working in New York City, and is excited to be taking on her new role as editor of SALON TODAY.
