Services We Offer Cardiac Assessment of cardiac rhythm disorders using: • Electrocardiogram (EKG/ECG) – is one of the simplest and fastest procedures used to monitor the heart. • Exercise Electrocardiogram (Stress Test) – is a procedure where eKg electrodes are placed on the chest, arms and legs and the heart is monitored while you are exercising. • Holter Monitor – is a type of electrocardiogram used to monitor the heart for a period of 24 hours or longer. • CardioVersion – is a treatment for heart rhythms that are irregular (arrhythmias); a special machine is used to send electrical energy to the heart muscle to restore normal rhythm. • Assessment of Heart Function - evaluation of the heart anatomy at rest and/or when the heart muscle is stressed by exercise or medication. • Echocardiogram – is a non-invasive (skin is not pierced) procedure used to assess the heart’s function and structures. • Transesophageal Echocardiogram – is a non-invasive procedure used to assess the heart’s function and structures through a scope. • Myocardial Nuclear Perfusion Scan (Stress Test) – a tiny amount of radioactive substance is used to assist in the examination of the heart muscle during exercise. At MetroWest Medical Center, Cardiovascular rehabilitation is covered by most insurance. A referral by your physician is required. Under special circumstances, transportation can be arranged for you.
