Vancouver Meeting Planners Guide 2008-2009 - (Page Tab3) Convention Convention Facilities Facilities Green Notes The roof of the Vancouver Convention Centre will soon be alive. With a completion date in spring of 2009, the Convention Centre’s roof will be rooted with 400,000 indigenous plants. These “green roofs” aid in drainage, better manage water runoff and lower the radiant heat created by the reflective surfaces of large cities. The effort to turn Vancouver’s major meeting centre into a model of ecological efficiency is nothing new. In fact, the Convention Centre has already received numerous environmental awards for innovations that have furthered the protection of marine life within its abutting harbour.
