pretense at the door before entering Pianetta
Winery's tasting room, located at 829 13th
Street in downtown Paso Robles. From their big, bold "Le Jug" wines
sold in playful glass flagons to their "famer first" philosophy, what
you see is what you get.
"At our tasting room, there's a lot of history on the walls, there's
a really friendly atmosphere; it's very casual and classy at the same
time," said Caitlin Pianetta. "We have four generations of farming
history in the family, and that definitely reflects in the wines."
Red wine lovers will rejoice at the fact that the winery produces
exclusively reds, including Cabernet Syrah, Petite Syrah, Shiraz,
Sangiovese and Barbera. Blends include their popular 2010 "Tuscan
Nights" as well as their infamous locally-loved jug offerings.

"Our jugs are great for a picnic or at
home or paired with a family dinner of
spaghetti and meatballs," said Pianetta. "It's
still high quality wine, made fun."
According to Pianetta, her father and
wine grape farmer John Pianetta crafts the
wines with the vineyard in mind.
"Our whole philosophy is about
presenting the vineyard in the wine," said
Pianetta. "We are trying to present what
we're growing in the bottle...everything you're
going to get from us is fruit-forward and
flavor forward."
