One of many reasons to love spring in
NYC: afternoons on the Hudson. The
Mark guests have exclusive access to
the hotel's 70-foot sailboat for private
charters around New York Harbor.
Take in the Manhattan skyline and snap
photos with Lady Liberty in the background while noshing on lobster daikon
rolls from chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, who oversees the 152-room
hotel's restaurant. The 25-passenger
vessel is available for half-day charters
in spring and summer. Doubles from
$725; Virtuoso travelers receive breakfast daily and a Jean-Georges picnic
basket. Sailboat charters, $3,500.
Bangkok's history revolves around Chao
Phraya, the river that cuts through the
Thai capital city. Along its shores sit
Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn), the Grand
Palace, and The Siam, a 39-room retreat
tucked amid three acres of gardens.
See the Bangkok skyline light up at
sunset from one of the rooftop daybeds on The Golden Naga, the hotel's
refurbished teak rice barge. The boat,
which holds up to eight passengers,
sails the Chao Phraya nightly. Doubles
from $579; Virtuoso travelers receive
breakfast daily and a $100 dining credit.
Private charters from $917 for two.
The yachting life aboard Relais Borgo Santo Pietro's private schooner, Satori.
Out to Sea
Jacques Cousteau called Palmarola "the most beautiful island in
the Mediterranean." The rocky, grotto-dotted isle off Italy's west
coast is a favorite of Relais Borgo Santo Pietro owners Claus
and Jeanette Thottrup, who recommend a stop there during a
weeklong cruise on the 20-room Tuscany hotel's new 136-foot
yacht, Satori. The hand-built wooden schooner accommodates
private charters of up to ten and comes with plenty of perks,
including suites with marble bathrooms, three sundecks, a
wine cellar, Jet Skis, and electric bikes for shore excursions.
Passengers cruise the Tyrrhenian Sea at their leisure, exploring
seaside villages, catching fish for dinner (a chef from the hotel's
Michelin-starred restaurant is on board to prep all meals), or
getting a massage in Satori's wellness suite. Itineraries are
completely customizable and can include pre- or post-voyage
stays at Borgo Santo Pietro. Satori private charters available
between June and October; contact your Virtuoso travel advisor
for pricing. Relais Borgo Santo Pietro doubles from $593; Virtuoso travelers receive breakfast daily and a $100 spa credit.
