Virtuoso Life - November/December 2007 - (Page 19) CONTRIBUTORS “The crafts and jewelry of Rajasthan are amazing, but it’s the people that draw me back to India time and again,” says KATHY SCHULTZ (“India Shines On,” page 118). A die-hard shopper living in Seattle, Schultz has written more than 500 articles on fashion, shopping, and travel; contributed to guidebooks such as Northwest Best Places; and worked as the regional reporter for Lucky magazine (aka the shopper’s bible). She is currently searching for an apartment in Jaipur. JILL FAIRCHILD (“In the Neighbor- hood,” page 133) says it was inevitable that she became an expert shopper – her father founded W magazine. “There’s nothing I love more than to visit a city’s different districts. For me, it’s all about the thrill of uncovering new designers, new stores, and new pieces.” Fairchild is founder and publisher of the Where to Wear guide series, a nine-volume collection on the best shopping in cities from London to Las Vegas. Beyond Imperial Charm “The key to a successful fashion story is discovering just the right mix of fantasy and reality,” says stylist, writer, and fashion producer STUART COHEN (“It’s a Wrap,” page 103). “What I love about this job is the hunt.” Along with our holiday gift guide, Cohen’s finds fill each issue’s Vanity Case, as well the pages of magazines such as Celebrated Living and Luxury Living. He splits his time between Manhattan and a sleepy town in upstate New York, where nature is the primary inspiration. “I’m very fortunate to always be surrounded by beautiful things,” he adds. CATHERINE KARNOW “Though I’ve traveled all over the world, Jaipur is the most exciting place I’ve ever worked,” says photographer Catherine Karnow (“India Shines On,” page 118). “The colors, the sounds, the food stalls – women in pink and orange saris, elephants and camels, breathtaking gems. I’ve never been that interested in jewelry, but couldn’t resist buying necklaces and rings there.” Born and raised in Hong Kong, Karnow counts National Geographic Traveler and Smithsonian among the publications to which she frequently contributes.
