Favorite destination: My all-time favorite
is still the Greek Islands: If you're able to share
a boat with friends or family, it's like ten vacations in one. Each island has its own unique
culture and identity. Many are quite tranquil
and rejuvenating; some are raucous, some
stylish, some ghostly - but all are surrounded
by the most magnificent blue sea.
A dream destination I still haven't visited: As a child of the '60s I've always wanted
to see Vietnam and Cambodia, and I'm lucky
to be headed there next.
My travel style: I love short trips - even
three days is enough. Though I own a beach
resort, I can't ever just sit on a beach all day; I
need to keep moving.
Why did you choose Hotel Esencia as
an investment - and part-time home? I'd
always dreamed of owning an ultra-high-end
beach hotel, more as a personal passion
project than as a business per se. I'd searched,
only half seriously over the years, but had
never really connected with one until four
years ago, when I first saw Esencia's spectacular white-sand beach. Though the hotel itself
had fallen into disrepair, I knew that if I wanted
to have the best beach resort in the world,
I would need to start with the best beach -
everything else could be fixed.
