Virtuoso Life - July/August 2017 - 26
During their free time, attendees hit the
town, exploring everything from floatplane tours to sea kayaking, shopping on
Granville Island, tasting beer at a craft
brewery, breakfasting with the bears on
Grouse Mountain, biking Stanley Park,
The city's diverse offerings kept everyone on the move. "You can go boating,
you can play golf, and you can go skiing
all in the same day - everything's within
a 15-minute drive," explains Vancouverbased travel agency executive David Lowy.
"The city has the combination of a European, Asian, and American attitude, all rolled
into one - it's the best of all worlds."
Don Renshaw Sr., a travel agency founder who's worked in the industry for more
than 70 years, agrees: "Vancouver is in a
class of its own. Visitors have an incredible
experience ahead of them."
Travel agency sales executive Kemi
Wells moved to the city a few years ago
and credits the people as well as the place:
"Vancouverites are laid-back and active,"
she says. "There's a sense of well-being
here, because we live in such a beautiful
place and people want to protect that."

Vancouver played host to the group as
Canada marks its 150th birthday, making for an especially celebratory mood
during such an important milestone in
the nation's history. Ty Speer, president
and CEO of Tourism Vancouver, toasted
both his city and his country: "Forbes
and the New York Times named Vancouver and Canada, respectively, among the
world's top must-visit destinations in
2017." After spending a few days there,
the group agreed: Rainy or sunny, this
seaport city shines.
