Simply getting to know
the Queen Mary 2 can take a few days.
Nearly as long as the Empire State Building
is tall, the ship has six dining rooms, five
pools, the largest library at sea (its maritime collection is among the world's best), a
planetarium, a Canyon Ranch SpaClub, and
hidden pubs, clubs, theaters, and lounges.
Big as it is, the ship cuts through the seas
like a knife: Unlike most cruise ships, which
have two stabilizers, the QM2 has four.
Some passengers purposely elect to sail
during winter storm season just to experience its rock-solid ride.
At some point, every guest heads to the
Promenade Deck. Three times around is
one mile and a chance to see who's who
on board. Each morning, my wife and I
fast-walk a counterclockwise circle that's
part exercise, part meditation, and 100
percent people-watching paradise. Large
families traveling together find their way
to intergenerational bliss, with kids in the
pool, parents sipping Bloody Marys, and
If BLEED, make it fit and center in
the DARK GRAY BOX.
