My Travel Essentials
Stephanie von Watzdorf fashions an adventurous life.
PORTRAIT BY BALL & ALBANESE
HE COFOUNDER AND CREative director of boho-chic
fashion line Figue travels as
often as she can, with her
photographer husband Michael Lucas,
with friends, or alone. "People, varied
cultures, and color inspire me," she
says. Sparks from her travels to Marrakech, Mexico City, and Kenya's Lamu
Island follow her back to her Chelsea,
NYC, studio, where visitors can shop
for globally inspired caftans, handbags,

sandals, and more. Von Watzdorf takes
a maximalist approach to her sojourns:
"I tend to overpack," she says. "I like to
have options and usually dress in layers.
I mix Figue with vintage and always
have a few shawls with me." Her travel
advisor, Woodmere, New York-based
Dede Thea, finds the perfect hotel, every
time. Among von Watzdorf's favorites:
the Four Seasons Hotel Milano for its
courtyard and prime location, and Paris'
Le Meurice, overlooking the Tuileries.
