Virtuoso Life - May/June 2018 - 31
All in a day's work at Soneva Fushi.
Add this to the list of resort trends we hope will catch on: rewarding altruistic travelers with extra vacation nights. As part of its sustainability
♥ initiatives in the Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in the Maldives, 57-villa Soneva Fushi is offering guests who stay five nights the opportunity to spend an additional five on the house. Participants commit to spending roughly two hours on each of their bonus days snorkeling with marine
biologists to identify resident sea turtles, tending vegetable gardens with horticulturists, and lending a hand with educational programs and swimming
lessons in nearby communities, among other activities. (Resort staff work with guests to tailor programs according to individuals' interests.) Holiday
shifts have never paid off more. Villas from $1,036, including breakfast daily and one lunch for two, with up to five complimentary additional nights May 12
through September 30; some blackout dates apply.
