1. Pack for a party with the OtterBox
Trooper LT 30, which is designed to
hold 50 12-ounce cans. The soft-sided
cooler converts into a backpack for
easy lugging across boardwalks and
dunes, and comes with a built-in bottle
opener, water-resistant side pockets
for stowing sunscreen and necessities,
a leakproof seal, and insulation that
keeps ice frozen for up to three days.
From $299; otterbox.com.
2. The issues with Amazon Echo Dot,
Google Home, and other digital assistant
speakers these days: They aren't waterproof, and most of the smaller options
produce subpar sound. Denon's Envaya
Mini DSB 150BT measures roughly 7 x 2 x
2 inches yet provides great sonic clarity
and reasonably deep bass. Pair two to
your phone via Bluetooth, and you'll get
true stereo separation (most cordless
mini speakers don't offer this feature).
Best of all, it remains waterproof for up
to 30 minutes when submerged, is impervious to sand and grit, and keeps the
beats bumping for 11 hours per charge.
Built-in microphones allow hands-free
calling, and an onboard button syncs
with your phone to access Apple's Siri.
iOS only; $149; usa.denon.com.
3. Goal Zero's Switch 10 charges its
battery pack via a solar panel or USB
input in four hours, then stands ready
to keep phones, speakers, and other
electronics going throughout the day.
The included fan attachment snaps on to
generate a gentle breeze if there isn't a
natural one blowing, and the battery doubles as a wide-angle flashlight for packing
up after sunset. $130; goalzero.com.
It might sound like a ploy to sell more sunblock (it is, with a twist): L'Oreal's new
UV Sense can save your skin from getting scorched. No bigger than a ladybug, the reusable wearable adheres to your fingernail to track UV exposure and
pairs with an app to ping your phone when it's time to head for shade or reapply
sunscreen. Though it's available only with a dermatologist's prescription for this
summer, it will be offered script-free come 2019. laroche-posay.us.
