The Cracker Barrel - Spring 2009 - (Page 2) PUBLIC SAFETY NEWS Dial 311 in Schaumburg for Nonemergency Requests As part of the village’s pursuit to provide outstanding customer service, the village has added the convenience of 311 dialing for everyone in Schaumburg. Dialing 311 is now the quick and easy option to reach the village customer service center for nonemergency requests. While all of the village’s existing inbound telephone numbers will still work, dialing 311 from any phone, whether mobile or land line, while in Schaumburg will connect you with one of the friendly call center representatives. Once in touch with a call center representative, they will answer your question or quickly connect you with the person, department, or service of your choice. Keep in mind that the 311 number does not replace 911 for emergency calls. If a police officer, firefighter, or paramedic is needed, dial 911. If you have any questions, call 847.895.4500. Pet Oxygen Masks Donated Special thanks to the Kathleen Longueil Insurance Agency in Schaumburg for donating pet oxygen masks for each of Schaumburg’s five fire stations. With the right equipment, firefighters and EMS rescuers can often save a pet’s life. The village is grateful for Ms. Longueil’s generous contribution. “Once I knew the Fire Department did not have this equipment, I knew I had to do something to make sure you had the equipment necessary to help an animal in distress,” stated Longueil. “As a new American Family Insurance Agent in Schaumburg, I wanted to feel like I was contributing or giving back to the community — I now feel that I have done that.” Need help, but it’s NOT an emergency — C AL L 311 Thunder The Police Department's newest member began his first tour of duty riding in the back of a patrol car. Thunder is the latest in a distinguished line of department canines. He is a purebred AKC registered German Shepherd weighing in at 95 pounds. A certificate of appreciation was presented to Rick and Kim Seaberg from Illinois Vest-A-Dog for their fundraising efforts to purchase a body armor vest for Thunder.
