The Cracker Barrel - Spring 2009 - (Page 3) COMMUNITY NEWS Permit for Electrical Work in a Schaumburg Home No permit is necessary to do low voltage electrical work such as light fixtures, receptacles, and switches. An electrical permit is required for all other residential electric work. The permit fee is $10. This fee is subsidized by the village to encourage application and inspection. Although hiring a licensed electrician is encouraged, a homeowner may do the work themselves as long as they sign a document stating that they are the person actually performing the work. Multi-family residences, including apartments, are also charged $10 per unit. Higher permit fees are charged for work done on a service, (i.e., breaker panels, feeds, etc.) and should typically be done by a well-qualified individual. For questions about electrical permits, call the Community Development Department at 847.923.4430. Sponsored by Alexian Brothers Children’s Hospital, the 1,600–square-foot playscape is located in Woodfield’s lower level and is open free of charge during mall hours. The innovative play park is designed to let kids rub elbows with larger-thanlife, three-dimensional Looney Tunes favorites, including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Road Runner, Marvin the Martian, Yosemite Sam, Pepe Le Pew, Sylvester, and Tweety. Children can climb aboard a super-sized teeter totter with Yosemite Sam, jump in a raft with Pepe Le Pew and his girlfriend, Fifi La Fume, play hopscotch with the Tasmanian Devil, romp around a simulated-sand box with Sylvester and Tweety, shoot giant marbles with Bugs Bunny, and more. Custom designed to capture the passions of the local community, Woodfield is the fifth such playscape to open nationally. For more information, visit www.shopwoodfield.com, or call 847.330.1537.
