The Cracker Barrel - Spring 2009 - (Page 8) TRANSPORTATION NEWS Bicycling in Schaumburg Spring is the time of year when bicyclists really get back into their sport. Schaumburg has 87 miles of on- and off-street bike paths and encourages riders to hit the trails. There are many reasons to ride a bicycle including transportation to work or school, recreation, exercise, and shopping. Schaumburg has taken great care over the years to develop ordinances that require bicycle parking at most business, commercial, and retail centers. For a free pocket-sized bike path map, call 847.923.3861. Join the Schaumburg Bicycle Club. Visit the website at www.schaumburgbicycleclub.org for details. Transportation Options Another option is to ride a bike to transfer to another mode of public transportation such as Schaumburg’s Woodfield Trolley, Pace buses, Metra trains, and, if going downtown on Metra, Chicago Transit Authority trains and buses allow bikes. Website addresses are provided below to Pace, Metra, and CTA describing how and when a bike can be brought onto their services.
