The Cracker Barrel - Winter 2012 - (Page 2)

Year One in Boomer Country When the Schaumburg Boomers opened the gates for the inaugural game on May 25, fans were lined up, eager for a chance to see the area’s newest baseball team. That enthusiasm and community support was prevalent throughout the season as over 150,000 fans visited Boomers Stadium. The Boomers goal was to become a franchise that provides a first class fan experience for every fan and aims to create lasting impressions by providing a product that is fun, affordable, welcoming, and family friendly. Judging by the community response, the team succeeded in doing just that. The Boomers finished fourth in the 14-team Frontier League, establishing their presence as a popular summer destination for families, birthday parties, and corporate outings. With entertainment acts like Jimmy Buffett cover band Parrothead Express, and loveable mascot Coop, as well as weekly fireworks shows and souvenir giveaways, fans found something to enjoy in Boomer Country, in addition to a winning baseball team. Through various initiatives, the Boomers aim to give back to the community and seek to partner with local schools and other non-profit groups to be a positive and contributing member of this community.
