All landscape waste must be bagged and placed at the curb for pick up. Landscape waste bags may be stored at the side of the home until the night before pick up. A mulching lawn mower is valued for its ability to mulch the leaves on the lawn and will replenish the lawn and eliminate landscape waste. Recycling on a Windy Day Taking just a moment to put your newspapers, cans, and jars in the recycling bin will save years of environmental harm from production of new materials, over-crowded landfills, and the depletion of our natural resources. On a windy day it’s a common sight to see recyclables blown around the ground. Here are a few suggestions to avoid the situation. • Do not overfill recycle bin. If necessary, you can purchase an additional bin from Republic Services for $9.05. • Flatten plastic jugs/bottles and aluminum cans. • Place heavier objects on top of the loose items. • Insert newspapers into a paper bag folding over the open end and place on top of loose items. Please do not use plastic bags. Recycling carts with lids and wheels are a great way to reduce the mess while increasing recycling. The carts come in three sizes: 35, 65, and 95 gallons. Rent a wheeled cart with lid for $2.01 per month or purchase it for $70.42. Contact Republic Services at 847.981.0091 to order your cart and specify that it’s for recycling. If you have any questions, contact Republic Services at 847.981.0091 or call the Engineering and Public Works Department at 847.923.6644.
