It's Battle Royale, it's the Hunger Games, it's PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, the addictive
online first- or third-person-shooter that already has 3 million loyal fans on Xbox. Like those
aforementioned movies, PUBG is a free-for-all deathmatch in which you and 99 other people
are dropped onto an island to scavenge for weapons, armor and equipment in hopes of
being the last one standing. You can even loot the bodies of your enemies. However, a bit
of Fantasy Island and Lost also are at work, since the island magically shrinks as the game
progresses, and anyone caught outside slowly but steadily takes damage until they get inside
the safe zone. There are even random aerial bombings, which hurt as well. The point? The
longer you survive, the more money you earn and the cooler outfits you can buy. So, yeah, it's
basically the red carpet at a Hollywood award show - with guns.
