MCCLOUD
REPORTING
FOR DUTY
There are many colorful pilots that players can
take on their journey in Starlink: Battle for Atlas,
but Nintendo Switch players are getting one
special character all to themselves. Star Fox's
Fox McCloud was announced for Starlink at
E3 2018, and the design similarities of the two
games makes the crossover seem like a perfect
fit. McCloud will be driving his classic Arwing
fighter, which will be available as one of the

game's toys-to-life ship models, although it will
be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch version.
The modular nature of the Arwing makes it
well suited for Starlink missions, and McCloud's
experience in switching between vehicular
air and ground combat on the fly will come in
handy when he pilots. In addition to the Star
Fox-themed ship and pilot, Nintendo Switch
players will enjoy a number of unique Star
Wolf missions, letting McCloud show what he
is truly capable of.

will not only be able to switch between their
ships' forms during combat, but they can also
swap out for entirely different ships on the fly.
The type of ship the player pilots is
determined by the physical ship model they
have mounted on the controller. Within the
ship model is one of the game's unique pilot
figures, granting special stats and abilities to
their in-game character, and different weapons
can be mounted on the ship model to unlock
a host of combat possibilities. With each wing
holding a weapon, and ships supporting up
to three wings equipped on each side, the
combat variations are numerous. Choosing the
right build for your ship, pilot and weapons
will make the difference between crashing and
burning or flying away victorious.
The toys-to-life genre may be on a bit of a
downturn, but Starlink: Battle for Atlas is ready
to kick it into overdrive once again. The game's
deeply explorable universe is made that much
deeper by the seamless freedom to switch
out ships and playstyles, making Starlink an
intriguing experience to look out for this fall.
