Following on last year’s successful wire and cable conference event, which M. Edward Fenton (1928 – 2007) M. Edward Fenton, 79, long time resident of Rome, NY, USA and Lake Monticello, VA, USA, passed away November 14, 2007, from complications related to prostate cancer. Born in Oswego, NY, USA, Fenton was the son of Daniel M. and Frances Haag Fenton. He moved with his family to Rome, NY, where he lived for 59 years before retiring to Virginia. He graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1945 and received his accounting degree from Bryant College in 1951. M. Edward Fenton served with honor in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1946-1948. With almost four decades in the wire and cable industry, he began his career at Rome Cable Corp., later joining M. Edward Fenton Camden Wire Co. in the was VP, Finance. Fenton then continued a consulting career in the industry taking assignments with Amercable, Spargo Wire Co. and many of industry suppliers.M. Edward Fenton is survived by his wife Rose Louise Schneible Fenton of Lake Monticello, VA; three children, M. Edward Fenton, Jr., Laurie Fenton Ambrose and Andrew Scott Fenton. Ed Fenton Jr. serves as chairman of the Wire & Cable Manufacturers Alliance, Inc. Also surviving are a brother, Frederick Fenton, and sister, Rita Koronowski. His deceased brother, Richard Fenton, was the former Plant Superintendent at Camden Wire Co. A Mass of Christian Burial was held in Virginia on November 16, 2007, and a private service was held in Rome on December 8, 2007.
