SHOWCASE MACHINERY Payoff Stands & Take-Ups Portal and cantilever types Narrow Web Butt Splicer For wire and cable applications PS payoff stands and take-ups can be of portal and cantilever types. The portal type can have various models relative to the dimensions of the reels being used, and it is normally used for heavy reels having diameters ranging from 1600 to 3000 mm. Reel lifting is via motor gearbox, while the lifting and closure of the pintles is via motor gearbox with electric and mechanical torque limiter. This unit is equipped with AC winding/unwinding motors. Portal payoffs are housed on rails and move laterally from right to left. In this way, the lifting operations can be easily performed and the payoff can also work as a wire guide. The cantilever type of payoff stands and take-ups is used for smaller reels with diameters ranging from 400 to 1250 mm. Even for this type of payoff and take-up system, the reel lifting can be easily accomplished through the use of hydraulic pistons, while the closure of the pintles can be either pneumatic or hydraulic.
