The Austin Convention & Visitors Bureau’s Film Commission assists filmmakers in scouting locations for their productions. This division of the CVB also functions behind the scenes as a liaison to the city in securing permits, coordinating efforts to use public property for filming and ensuring that companies comply with local codes and ordinances. visitor information center Located in the popular Sixth Street Entertainment District, the Austin Visitor Center stocks a variety of Austin, Texas and University of Texas at Austin souvenirs, ranging from local music CDs and guidebooks to Texas food products and wildflower merchandise. The Visitor Center also sells tickets for many tours and attractions, including: Austin Duck Adventures, Austin Overtures, Lone Star Riverboat, Haunted Texas Tours, GPS Ranger, Adeo mp3 tours and Schlitterbahn waterpark. AUSTIX staffs a booth to sell discounted tickets for many theater performances around the city. Free maps and brochures are also available. Limited 15-minute parking is available in front of the building. The Visitor Center, open Mon.–Fri., 9am–5pm and Sat.–Sun., 8:30am– 5:30pm, is located at 209 E.
