Free Concerts Throughout the summer and early fall, Chicagoans find something to celebrate nearly every weekend to make the most of the splendid weather. Many of these events are completely free to the public and are a great way to spend your time in Chicago. There’s no dearth of great music in Chicago this summer — and so much of it is free! The Grant Park Music Festival is the nation’s only remaining free, outdoor classical music series, featuring the Grammy-nominated Grant Park Orchestra and Chorus. The concerts take place throughout the summer in the astounding Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park. The Chicago Blues Festival, June 5–8, is the largest free blues festival in the world, taking the stage with more than 70 performers. In August, the Viva! Chicago Latin Music Festival and the Chicago Jazz Festival both draw outstanding performers from around the world, and the Chicago Country Music Festival, October 11–12, gets the Windy City on its feet to boot scoot and boogie!
