In fact, Colorado has thousands of acres of boat-worthy water. Our many placid lakes and reservoirs provide aquatic playgrounds for the nautically inclined. On-water enthusiasts should consider these favorites. Setting Sail The Draw Sailors find solace in noiseless travel through mountain basins and wide-open plains filled with deep blue water. Look to the shoreline where animals sip from the water, unafraid of quiet sailboats. Motorboating The Draw Speed, glorious speed — with it you can tow a water-skier, tuber or just press your face into the wind. Colorado’s waterways often allow you to create a wide wake and feel the freedom of open water. The Places Lake Dillon: Hop to and from the lake’s many small islands as the Ten Mile Range frames the horizon. Lake San Cristobal: Here you can sail beneath the towering San Juan Mountains near Lake City, particularly on a warm fall day when the aspens blaze gold in their autumn splendor. Grand Lake: Take a peek into Rocky Mountain National Park while sailing Colorado’s largest natural lake. Chatfield Reservoir: Located on the southwestern edge of the Denver Metro area, Chatfield is a sailboaters paradise with a fullservice marina and perfect wind conditions rolling off the foothills. The Places Cherry Creek State Park: Rent a boat at the marina, then jet ski or tube all day in this, the closest state park to downtown Denver. John Martin Reservoir State Park: As the second-largest body of water in the state, this reservoir offers boaters an incredible amount of space to motor. Eleven Mile State Park: Catch kokanee salmon and rainbow trout from a boat on this long, narrow reservoir near Lake George. Jackson Lake State Park: This beautiful lake on the Northeast plains is not only great for boating, but has a nationally recognized shoreline beach. 38 1-800-Colorado | www.colorado.com http://www.colorado.com
