At Clear, you’ll find the hot spot club in the Valley lives up to its moniker with a translucent front door, padded white-leather walls and Plexiglas stools. If Hollywood were to ever produce a sequel to Swingers, Charlie O’s would be the featured pinepaneled watering hole. There is nothing a “tall drink of water” couldn’t love about this discreet hidden gem in Valley Glenn. Sports Bars You don’t have to be a sports fan to appreciate the sports bars in LA. After all, what’s better than watching the game on ridiculously large TV screens that make the action seem almost life sized? In Downtown LA, there’s Casey’s Irish Bar & Grille on Grand Avenue and Grand Avenue Sports Bar in the Millennium Biltmore Hotel. Catch the game at Trifecta Restaurant and Sports Lounge in the Kawada Hotel. A 25-foot video wall and comfy leather chairs offer a sleek and relaxed ambiance. For a new twist on an old theme, head to Point Moorea, a tiki-themed sports bar where a ’50s and ’60s vibe comes alive. Outside Downtown, there’s Champions Sports Bar in the Los Angeles Airport Marriott, Landings & Bistro in the Hilton Los Angeles Airport hotel and Mulligan’s in the Pacific Palms Conference Resort. Not to be overlooked is LA’s staple sports bar in West Hollywood, Barney’s Beanery. Equipped with more than 200 varieties of domestic and imported beer, Barney’s Beanery is a venerable restaurant and bar that has been around since the 1920s. It’s actually the locale rumored to have served Janis Joplin her last drink. Hollywood is a direct descendent of the legendary club in New York of the same name. It’s located in the heart of Hollywood, making it a great addition to any nightlife itinerary. If your clients want to have a good time and exercise their vocal cords at the same time, Howl at the Moon might be a good option. A dueling piano bar in the tradition of Pat O’Brien’s in New Orleans, it’s all about audience participation, giving them a chance to become the evening’s entertainment. At the House of Blues® Sunset Strip, a huge range of bands — both national acts and local favorites — make appearances throughout the week. Your clients will need to make arrangements well in advance if they want tickets to shows at this venue, but their efforts will be rewarded with an unforgettable musical experience. Offering a sort of down-home rock-and-roll vibe, it’s the perfect venue for your clients to catch a set by their favorite ’80s hair band or the hottest hip hop group. Comedy Clubs LA is home to lots of stand-up comedy clubs, including the Laugh Factory, the legendary launching pad for the careers of famous comedians like Richard Pryor. Other comedy clubs in LA include the Comedy Store, the Acme Comedy Theatre, the Comedy & Magic Club and The Improv.
