GET TO KNOW PHILADELPHIA Philadelphia’s Visitor Centers At the Independence Visitor Center, you can get free timed tickets, which are required in advance for tours of Independence Hall and some of the historic buildings on Independence Square. Tours take place March 1–Dec. 31 (except Thanksgiving, Christmas and July 4), and most depart from the center. You can also purchase CityPass and Philly Pass tour tickets here. This state-of-the-art center includes oversized wall panels displaying images and information on 500 attractions in Philadelphia and The Countryside. Each panel has a video overview in English, Spanish, French, German, and Japanese. Visitors can use the computer kiosks to find attractions, hotels, and restaurants with a touch of a finger. You will find plenty of maps and brochures for planning any itinerary. Free orientation films are shown throughout the day, including Independence, an exciting overview of Independence National Historical Park. There’s also a coffee shop and a gift shop where you can buy your Philadelphia souvenirs. City Hall Visitor Center Getting information in Philadelphia is now even easier. The city’s second visitor center, located inside City Hall in the heart of Philadelphia at Broad and Market streets, includes a retail store that carries Philadelphia-themed merchandise and a video monitor showing continuous footage of the treasures the city has to offer. It’s also a great spot to start your tour of City Hall’s significant architecture and sculptures, City government areas, and your visit to the top of the City Hall tower.
