In reality, Seattle gets less rain than New York, Miami and plenty of other U.S. cities. Nevertheless, drizzly days are part of what locals love about Seattle. Rain means sipping warm lattes in coffee shops, relaxing with pints of stout in cozy microbreweries or getting lost for a day in museums and art galleries. For residents of Seattle, a little rain is no reason to miss out on exploring the city. Follow these tips to approach Seattle’s weather like a local — rain or shine: • Seattleites are known to forego umbrellas for hooded jackets and to peg umbrella-holders as tourists. Want to blend in? Walk around like you don’t even notice it’s raining. Frizzy, damp hair not your style? Then by all means, grab an umbrella. This city welcomes its visitors! I • Seattle’s Northwest locale means year-round mild temperatures, but the weather can change quickly. Dress in layers and you’ll avoid getting too hot or too cold. • Spring and summer are delightful seasons in Seattle.
