Seeing 5,000 nutcrackers in the Nutcracker Museum. Dogsled and sleigh rides during the Bavarian Ice Festival in SNOQUALMIE FALLS January. December weekends offer the chance to ride the Snow Train from Seattle to Leavenworth, taking in the gorgeous scenery and the town’s tree-lighting festival. Just 30 minutes up I-90 is the Summit at Snoqualmie, the closest ski resort to Seattle, where you can snowshoe, snowmobile, snowboard, tube and ski. Miniature World might sound like a tourist trap, but its displays of tiny dolls, spaceships and other detailed objects wow visitors of all ages. With its revitalization, downtown Tacoma is a great place to bring children.
