See page 22 for popular day trips. 5 Coffee Shops Fall Festivals and Holiday Events Whether it’s the Earshot Jazz Festival or Winterfest at Seattle Center, fall and winter boast some of the year’s favorite celebrations. See the calendar of events on page 14 and go to www.visitseattle.org/cultural. In this, the coffee capital of the country, you don’t really need an excuse to sit and sip a deliciously handcrafted latte, mocha or simple cup of coffee. But when it’s a bit chilly out, it’s just that much cozier to hole up in one of our hundreds of coffeehouses with a book and a warm mug. See page 66 for more on Seattle’s coffee culture. 6 Sporting Events Performing Arts The city’s best theater, dance, opera, symphony and other performing arts programs often premiere in the fall and continue through winter. They’re the perfect indoor endeavors for cool evenings. Turn to page 38 for more information on performing arts. What fun would fall and winter be without bundling up and heading to the stands for a football game? Check out the Seahawks at Qwest Field or the University of Washington’s Huskies at Husky Stadium.
