Families will love tubing together or ice skating at various locations throughout Vancouver. Consider a sleigh ride or a snowshoe expedition. If you like the idea of skiing but don’t need the adrenaline rush of downhill, you can always check out the vast network of cross-country ski trails at Cypress Mountain. Sometimes, the best part about skiing is enjoying the warm afterglow of a day spent on the slopes over drinks and dinner with friends. Whether you’re skiing in Whistler or at one of Vancouver’s slopes, you’ll find no limit to the variety of après-ski activities available. Whistler Village is home to more restaurants and nightclubs than you can hope to visit, making it an active area when the lifts shut down for the day. If you’re skiing Seymour or Cypress, head back to downtown Vancouver after the skiing is done and enjoy dinner and drinks with views of the coast and mountains. Several local resorts will serve as venues for alpine events during the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Whistler has completed facilities for several events, including luge, bobsleigh and skeleton. At Cypress Mountain, the groundwork has been laid to host the snowboard events and freestyle skiing. 44 tourismvancouver.com http://tourismvancouver.com
