Many are situated near prime wildlife habitats and feature interpretive displays and literature. Fireplaces, RV parking, pet exercise areas and playgrounds can be found at most of the 27 rest stops scattered throughout the roadway system. More information on rest stops can be found at the Wyoming Department of Transportation’s Web site, www.dot.state.wy.us. Passing the Welcome to Wyoming sign is your rite of passage! If you’re entering the state via one of the interstates or on one of our many state highways, stop at one of our seven visitor centers just inside the border for travel information. 148 2 8 81 DALLAS ATLANTA Are We There Yet? Highways through broad expanses of land may be open range for grazing livestock. Watch for animals walking roadside and across roads. Speed limits are posted on most two-lane highways. On interstates, speed limits range from 55 to 75 mph. If you get drowsy, stop and stretch. Find a rest area, walk around and keep your car cool. Plan ahead to get plenty of sleep to avoid battling fatigue. Judge your gas availability wisely, filling up your tank ahead of time if the road ahead traverses sparsely populated areas.
