To get there, take Hw Wheatland Old Time Fun: This farming community boasts a downtown reminiscent of days gone by, highlighted by the elegant and stately Platte County Courthouse. The town comes alive in the summer months, when the Platte County Summer Festival (in June) and the Platte County Fair and Rodeo take place. Both events offer plenty of old-time fun with live music, crafts, barbecue and agricultural events like tractor pulls and pig wrestling. Don’t Miss: The Laramie Peak Museum (wyshs.org/ mus-laramiepeak.htm) offers a wealth of homestead memorabilia. Other sites of interest in the area are the Oregon Trail Ruts National Historic Landmark and the Register Cliff State Historic Site, about 30 miles northeast in Guernsey.
